My lovely leftovers
Digging deep into my freezer stash, butter thosai made from frozen thosai batter (which I thawed a couple of days back), leftover Amma’s dhal, a fresh batch of my favourite mushroom rendang and pan-grilled paneer.

How to stir-fry veggies
My tips for a yummy vegetarian stir-fry:
1. Prep all your veggies first.
2. Make sure your pan is hot, oiled and ready.
3. Sauté your chopped garlic and ginger till fragrant.
4. Start with the veggies that need longer cooking time. Once you achieve the preferred doneness, add the rest of the leafy-quick-cooking ones.
5. Season with salt and pepper.
6. Adding crispy shallots in the end really makes your simple stir-fry extra special.
This one here is a four-angled bean, pea shoots, garlic ginger stir-fry.

My perfect salad
Salads should never be boring and I’m here to help you appreciate your veggies.
Pan-fried Halloumi with honey, half an avocado, last bit of purple cabbage, cherry tomatoes and cucumbers. A drizzle of good extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar is all you need.
Turmeric power
One of the ingredients I constantly use when cooking my spiced dishes is Turmeric. Turmeric contains curcumin, a substance with powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
This my Turmeric Fried Chicken. Usually, turmeric fried chicken is made with boneless chicken. So, this is macam (kind of) "ayam goreng kunyit" 😅
The recipe is here.
My plates
Pesto egg, grilled paneer, asparagus, half an avocado, ulam raja, pegaga leaves and tomatoes.
Pesto eggs recipe is here.
A plateful of goodness. Fresh greens (red spinach), French beans omelette, dhal and some sautéed cabbage.
Meals that remind me of my childhood.
Okay, minus the raw greens because I didn’t like them as a kid! 😅
I made a batch of Ulam Raja Pesto again.
Today, for lunch, I’ve made myself a grilled sandwich using the pesto, cubes of grilled charcoal-smoked paneer and cherry tomatoes. On the side, a salad consisting of Pegaga leaves, more Ulam Raja, tomatoes and dried cranberries (the salad dressing - I thinned the pesto with some orange juice).
Fridays are for delicious curries like these. Today’s special: fish molee, sautéed cumin potatoes with kailan and ginger pickle.
Salmon molee recipe is here.
