How to make it
Ingredients:
500g minced beef
2 tbsp Italian herbs
1/4 cup bread crumbs
1 medium onion, finely chopped
3 beef / pork sausages, chopped
1 tsp sweet paprika (optional)
1/2 cup canned chopped tomatoes
1/3 cup cream
1 cup water
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Salt & pepper
Olive oil
Method:
1. Pre-heat oven to 200C.
2. In a pan, add some olive oil and sauté the chopped onions till soft. Then add the sausages. Cook till crisp and caramelised.
3. Add the chopped tomatoes and a cup of water - allow it to gently simmer before adding one tbsp of Italian herbs.
4. While the stew is gently bubbling, make the meatballs. Combine the minced beef, breadcrumbs, remaining Italian herbs, salt and pepper. Form into golf ball sized meatballs.
5. Before you add the meatballs into the stew, pour in the cream and let the stew thicken. If it appears to be too thick, add some water. Season to taste. Now, add the meatballs. Let it cook for about 5 mins or so.
6. Top the meatballs with grated cheese. Remove the pan from the stove and then place it in the oven.
7. Cook for 10 mins or till cheese becomes golden brown.
Serve this hearty-meaty stew with your favourite pasta.
